“Tell me, and I will forget. Show me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I will understand.” - Confucius
Peace Parliament is an annual national event which will constitute representatives chosen from Regional/State organisations is designed to help the Youth with the methods by which effective meetings are conducted and representative decisions can be reached. Parliamentary procedure is advocated for, and practiced throughout the world. Apart from the obvious advantages in leadership training and disciplined thinking which comes from concise debate and clearly led discussion, the introduction of parliamentary procedures gives an objective lesson in working democracy.
The advantages of parliamentary procedures include:
1. Orderly meetings;
2. Opportunities for all to be heard;
3. Decisions by the majority;
4. Protection for the minority.
There are many sets of rules or guides to effective action in meetings. Each rule is designed to permit free discussion and free decisions. It will provide you with a good understanding of how proper meeting procedures can help your organization in conducting its meetings. When the youth grow up to be administrators and leaders of various Government/Non-Government bodies and establishments/organisations, this training will be of great help in decision making and conflict management.
While the contents & functioning will remain the same as Peace Parliament, Peace Assembly will be a state event and the members will comprise of representatives from different districts of the state. Participants for National Peace Parliament will be chosen from this team.
